About evidence
About evidence
It is the parties own responsibility to submit evidence in a case. We recommend that you send in relevant evidence in support of your statement. The Rent Disputes Tribunal primarily admit evidence in written form.
Different kinds of evidence
Evidence can be copy of the lease, pictures, receipts, bank statements, communication between the parties, price offers, witness statements or something similar. It is important that your pictures are of good quality, so that we are able to see what they intend to prove.
How to submit evidence
When you submit evidence to us, we ask that you gather the evidence in a PDF-file, which you attach with the digital form. You can do this by copy- and pasting the files into a word document. We ask that you write a short explanation under each file explaining what it is intended to prove. After you can save the word document as a PDF. If you have a PDF editing tool you can do this directly in Adobe. The lease and any potential mandate form can be separate attachments. Give the files accurate and descriptive file names, for example "Lease".
How to submit a complaintWe recommend that you use our digital forms. You can send in a signed complaint and evidence as ordinary mail if you do not have the opportunity to use our digital complaint form.
Give explanations for your evidence
For example for a picture that show that the floor in the apartment is not poperly cleaned, you can describe how it is not cleaned: floor with a lot of dust and grease stains.
If it does not show from the picture you can say which room in the apartment it is from.
Video evidence
As a main rule the Rent Disputes Tribunal does not accept video- or audio files.
If you want to send in video- or audio evidence, you must first send us a written description of what the evidence is meant to prove and explain why it is important evidence. The Rent Disputes Tribunal will review the explanation, and notify you if you are permitted to send in the evidence.
Submitting additional evidence
If you need to submit additional evidence or information, you can do so by using our digital form for additional information. You can read more about how, and find the form here .
