A live-in partner does not pay rent
Have a live-in partner not paid their share of the rent?
If live-in partners rent together with joint responsibility, both are responsible for the total rental amount being paid to the landlord. The landlord can claim the half that is not already paid from you, who have already paid. If you do not have joint responsibility, the landlord cannot claim the remaining rent form you.
You can risk having to move out if the unpaid rent is not paid.
TerminationA claim for unpaid rent from you directed towards the one you are renting with, cannot be processed by the Rent Disputes Tribunal. If the one live-in partner rents from the other, claims to unpaid rent can be processed by the Rent Disputes Tribunal.
