6 tips for when you are renting or renting out
1. Make sure you have a written tenancy agreement. Huseierne, Leieboerforeningen and Forbrukerrådet offer standard tenancy contracts.
2. It is beneficial to do inspections when moving in- and out, to document the conditions of the property. This can be done by filling out a protocol form.

3. If there are more than one tenant signing the same contract, you have joint/shared liability to the contract. It is possible agree to a pro-rata responsibility - this needs to be expressed in the contract.

4. There are rules for deposits - The deposit should be placed in a separate deposits account. The deposit is the tenants money, but is places in a separate, locked account so the landlord has security. The landlord must pay the fee for creating the account.
5. The parties can agree amongst themselves on who is responsible for maintenance of the property. Make sure you are aware of what your contract says, so you know what you have agreed to.

6. You should think about whether the contract should be time specified or unspecified, whether it should be possible to give notice to end the tenancy, and if so, how long the notice period should be. Be aware of if there is binding period.
