Tenancy contract
Even though the landlord has written into the contract that keeping animals is not permitted, the tenant can keep animals if there are good reasons for it, and it is not an inconvenience to the landlord or other users of the residence.
Example: The tenant enters into a contract where one of the clauses is: Animals are not permitted. After a while the tenants gets a live-in partner, who has a hunting dog. Despite the clause in the contract, the landlord cannot deny the tenants keeping the dog, unless there are specific reasons to. These reasons could be that the landlord is allergic and intends to use the residence after the tenancy, that the dog barks at night or is of another inconvenience to neighbours.
The tenant can be liable for any potential additional wear on the property due to the keeping of animals.

The Tenancy Act does not have rules about what kind of information the landlord may or may not request, but section 1-8 forbids discrimination.
