The landlord wants the deposit placed on their own account
A deposit must be placed in a locked bank account in the tenant's name. The landlord cannot require the tenant to pay the deposit in cash or to the landlord's own bank account.
If the tenant has paid the deposit in cash or directly to the landlord's bank account, the tenant can at any time demand the money be paid back. As a main rule the tenant can claim interest from the day the tenant paid the deposit.
