The tenant owes rent at the end of the tenancy
Does the tenant owe rent at the end of the tenancy? Here we have gathered some tips for the landlord.
Deposit and guarantee
If the tenant has paid a deposit or there has been agreed to a guarantee, you can cover the claims through the deposit or the guarantee.
Deposit and guaranteeContact the tenant
In cases where there is not a deposit, or the deposit does not cover the unpaid rent, it can be smart to try agreeing to a down payment plan with the tenant.
If you cannot get a hold of the tenant, or the tenant does not agree to a down payment plan, you should send the tenant a message with how much money you are claiming in unpaid rent and for what months. You should set a deadline of 14 days for payment to your account number.
No payment received?
If the tenant still does not pay, you can submit a complaint to the Rent Disputes Tribunal claiming payment of the unpaid rent. It is important that you give a specified overview of what months the claim is regarding. You should also attach the contract and any other potential evidence for the claim.
